There is mark set for each term (i.e. Term 1 and Term 2)
The total term mark for each subject is 100 and is calculated as follows:
The exam is formally scheduled as a summative assessment for the whole school.
Each student is given an Examination Study Syllabus (Portion)
(c.f. Example Quiz/Examination Syllabus)
100 marks for Term work, (with a weight of 80% of year total),
Calculated as follows:
2.1 One Formal Mid-Term Quiz marked out of 40
These assessments/evolutions may be summative or formative in nature
The aim is to give about two marks per week
Marks may be assigned for class participation, project work, homework, small class tests (e.g. spelling tests, multiplication tables test, reading) and class work.
Note:
1. Focus on what students have achieved rather than on what they have not achieved.
2. Teachers must be sensitive to student’s circumstances when planning for assessment/evolution, for example, assessing just before or just after a national holiday may affect the evaluation, as might assess a student immediately on their return to school after illness.
3. Continuous assessment should be individualized to some extent, i.e. measuring a student against their own improved outcomes. Reward individual improvement.
4. If a student misses any assessment, the teacher must give the assessment or test when the student is fairly able to do so.
